Reward

Category Reward

Whether you are actually riding, turning your horse out into the field or simply spending some time with your four-legged friend – you want to show him how much he means to you. And you want to reward him for his friendship.

There are very many ways of doing this – but not all rewards are healthy.

Because today sugar and artificial colorants are still used in many horse treats as this keeps production costs significantly lower. Sugar, however, should be avoided as a matter of principle as it attracts bacteria which feed on the sugar in the horse's mouth and c‍reate lactic acid. This lactic acid reduces the pH-value in the oral cavity and can lead to damage of the tooth enamel.

Artificial colorants and preservatives can also cause a variety of gastro-intestinal problems and should thus be completely avoided in a horse's diet!

In the case of rewards a distinction is to be made between vegetables and fruit, such as carrots and apples, and industrially produced treats. The advantage of treats which are produced in pellet form is that many important minerals can also be included.

Of course this does not mean that carrots and apples should not be fed to a horse. However, with our treats you always have something small, practical and tasty in your pocket with which you can tell your horse how much he means to you. As different horses have different taste preferences, at Effol we have tried to produce a variety of tastes in o‍rder to appeal to every horse and always have the right product available to suit the horses as well as the riders. We are proud of being able to give every rider the possibility of demonstrating his friendship - because friendship needs care!

All Effol reward products are made without any sugar or synthetic colorants. We are able to verify that we use exclusively cereals which do not come from a genetically modified environment.
